CT analysis of some Rock Samples

Petroleum rock 3D reconstruction and minerals: 

Thanks to high image resolution and definition of the micro CT detector, small rock sample can also be investigated in order to extract geological information. Figure shows (upper) the picture of a sample from the Eclogistic Micaschist Complex (Western Alps). the different materials composing rock are clearly vidible in the 3D reconstruction of the volume shown in figure (down, left): garnet porphyroblasts are visualised in green. With this detector petroleum rock samples also will be analysed in order to study their porous structure.
